Staff Accountant
Description We are in search of a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in AMES, Iowa, 50014-5534, United States. This role is focused on managing all accounting functions for a portfolio of multifamily rental properties. The Staff Accountant will analyze data, manage cash positions, prepare monthly financial statements, and perform other administrative duties as necessary. Responsibilities: • Analyze data to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with requirements and applicable accounting principles. • Manage the cash position of portfolio, which includes paying bills, completing bank reconciliations, and analyzing the cash position of each property. • Exercise independent judgement in preparation of monthly financial statements to ensure accurate reporting of each property’s financial position. • Conduct various financial, accounting, and analysis tasks. • Handle administrative duties and perform other tasks as necessary. • Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently. • Maintain accurate customer credit records. • Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments. • Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close. • Oversee property accounting and financial statement preparation. Requirements • Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). • Experience with Bank Reconciliations is required. • Familiarity with General Ledger management is essential. • Ability to create and maintain Journal Entries. • Proficiency in conducting Month End Close processes. • Experience in Property Accounting is preferred. • Skilled in Financial Statement Preparation is a must. • The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. • Previous experience as a Staff Accountant or a similar role would be beneficial. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. • Excellent analytical skills along with the ability to create and present detailed reports. • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data. • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
