Staff Accountant
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the nonprofit industry, located in Washington, District of Columbia. This role focuses on various accounting functions such as Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, and General Ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will be proficient with software such as NetSuite and will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including Journal Entries and Month End Close. Responsibilities: • Handle all aspects of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy • Maintain the general ledger and assist in preparing journal entries • Assist with month-end close processes to ensure timely financial reporting • Utilize NetSuite software for various accounting tasks • Resolve account discrepancies and prepare adjusting entries as needed • Collaborate with other team members to improve and streamline accounting processes • Maintain financial confidentiality and secure financial information by completing database backups • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Accountant, preferably in a Non-Profit environment • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business, Finance • Must have knowledge of General Ledger management • Experience in creating and managing Journal Entries is essential • Proficiency in using NetSuite accounting software is preferred • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required • Knowledge of Non-Profit accounting principles and regulations is a plus.
