Staff Accountant
Description Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our CPA firm and provide comprehensive accounting services to a diverse range of clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing multiple clients' accounting needs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves working closely with clients, addressing their financial concerns, and delivering insightful financial reporting that supports their business objectives. Key Responsibilities: Manage Client Accounts: Handle day-to-day accounting for multiple clients, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow statements. Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records. Tax Preparation Support: Assist with gathering and organizing financial data for tax filings and work closely with the tax department during tax season. Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist clients in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and analysis to help manage financial performance. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all financial operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements (GAAP, IRS, etc.). Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding their accounting needs, offering professional advice, addressing concerns, and explaining financial reports. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, both within the firm and for clients, and implement best practices. Software Management: Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) to manage financial data for clients efficiently, ensuring accurate entries and reporting. Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to provide coordinated services to clients, such as tax planning and audit support. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification (or progress towards CPA designation) preferred. 2-4 years of experience in public accounting or working with multiple clients. Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management • Experience with Bank Reconciliations • Familiarity with General Ledger duties • Ability to prepare and manage Journal Entries • Experience in Month End Close processes • Proficiency in using QuickBooks accounting software • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • High attention to detail and accuracy in work • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information • Strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Familiarity with tax laws and regulations • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
