Staff Accountant
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Rochester, New York. Your role will encompass a variety of accounting and administrative tasks, supporting our financial operations. This position is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring efficient operation of our financial systems. Responsibilities: • Perform a variety of accounting and clerical tasks. • Assist in the timely processing of vendor payments and handling accounts payable tasks. • Collaborate with team members to clarify account distribution to programs and agency accounts. • Review expenses and credit card transactions for accuracy and ensure proper support for transactions. • Input data into the general ledger system and prepare journal entries. • Assist with payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis. • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing procedures, including required reconciliations. • Handle cash receipts, deposits, and process remote deposits regularly. • Collaborate with administrative staff and provide coverage as requested. • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership. Requirements • The candidate must possess a minimum of one year of experience in accounting. • Proficiency in General Ledger accounting is a requirement. • Experience in Reconciliations is essential. • The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. • The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is a requirement. • The candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred. • Knowledge of accounting software and applications is a plus. • The candidate should demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. • The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure is essential. • The candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding accounting, finances, and taxation is a plus. • The candidate should have a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
