Position: Staff Accountant

Location: Fort Myers, FL

Reports to:  Asst. Director of Finance

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Primary responsibilities include income audits, Billing, Collections and balance sheet reconciliation.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for Accounts Receivable including but not limited to: maintaining a billing control log, accurately posting and applying payments, maintain customer files, and collections. Responsible for monthly credit meetings.Responsible for auditing all property postings and revenue.Demonstrate the ability to effectively identify problems and generate solutions.Ensure a strong accounting and operating control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability. Ensure compliance with all applicable local laws and procedures.Advise Asst. Director of Finance on existing and evolving operating / financial issues.Monitor all applicable taxes are current, collected / or accrued, and processed.Ensure meeting of all required deliverable deadlines.Ensure compliance with standard and local operating procedures.Support and complete additional duties as necessary and assigned.Perform other duties as management requests.

Education and experience

2- year college degree or equivalent in Finance and Accounting or related MajorWork experience preferred. Previous hotel experience required.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to interact patiently, tactfully, and diplomatically with internal and external guests.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of timeCorrected vision to normal range.Ability to work long hours as needed

NOTICE:  The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  All employees must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift as business demands.  In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
