Staff Accountant
Job Title: Staff AccountantJob Description As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of our financial records. You will be responsible for reconciling bank accounts, verifying deposits, and handling various accounts payable and receivable tasks. Your role will also involve assisting in month-end reporting procedures, managing vendor correspondence, and supporting the Finance Department with general administrative tasks. Responsibilities + Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks. + Reconcile customer accounts and manage AR/collections. + Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. + Assist in month-end reporting procedures. + Receive invoices and forward to appropriate personnel for approval in NetSuite. + Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries. + Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books. + Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices. + Handle vendor correspondence via phone or email. + Maintain vendor profiles by verifying federal ID numbers, W9 forms, and contracts. + Pay employees by receiving and verifying expense reports. + Prepare check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions. + Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. + Process remittance information from checks, drafts, and wire transfers for invoices provided by vendors, reviewing instructions accompanying items to determine proper disposition and crediting accounts in accordance with standard procedures. + Assist with monthly status reports, and monthly closings. + Assist with Ad Hoc reporting. + Perform filing and general administrative tasks. + Perform other duties as required to support the Finance Department. + Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential. + Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. + Assist in 1099 and unclaimed property (escheatment) filing process. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 4+ years of accounts payable and general accounting experience. + Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel. + Experience with accounting software, NetSuite (preferred). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Detail-oriented and thorough. + Ability to multi-task. + Open to change and willing to learn new skills. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to follow up on pending issues. + Ability to meet deadlines. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. + Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as allocation of costs and fees. Work Environment This role offers a hybrid work environment, with on-site work required on Tuesdays and Thursdays and remote work available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
