Staff Accountant

 

Type: Full-Time / Exempt

Location: Cutler Bay, FL

Position Summary : The Accountant II plays a critical role in managing the general accounting functions of a publicly traded company. Responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining and analyzing the general ledger, managing fixed assets and construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes in compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.

 

What You’ll Do: 

Play a key role in daily accounting operations, including preparing journal entries for cash, fixed assets, construction-in-progress (CIP), prepaids, accruals, and intercompany transactions, while managing various asset and liability reconciliations. Perform detailed account analysis and maintain reconciliations for bank statements, fixed assets, CIP accounts, and intercompany general ledger accounts. Support external and internal audit processes, including quarterly reviews and year-end audits, ensuring compliance with public company reporting standards. Collaborate with A/R and A/P teams to address customer and vendor management needs as required. Prepare and analyze internal management reports, leveraging financial data to drive insights and recommendations. Contribute to special projects and oversee additional technical accounting areas as assigned, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards. Develop and document accounting policies and business processes to enhance internal controls and ensure scalability for growth. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives for accounting processes and procedures as the company expands into new and established markets.

What You’ll Bring: 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required. 2–4 years of general ledger accounting experience, including account reconciliations and financial analysis. Experience managing fixed assets and construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts is strongly preferred. Advanced Excel skills required, including proficiency with V-lookups, pivot tables, and other advanced functions. Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems is preferred. Familiarity with SOX internal controls and compliance frameworks is a plus. Experience with intercompany transactions and consolidations is preferred. Solid understanding of accounting concepts, including GAAP, general ledgers, financial statements, and profit & loss analysis. Demonstrated experience in preparing journal entries and performing detailed reconciliations for accounts, bank statements, customers, and vendors. Strong communication, problem-solving, and follow-up skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with experience supporting growth initiatives. Team-oriented mindset with strong self-motivation and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
