Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant (6 month contract-to-hire) to oversee financial records, generate reports, and ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will assist in compiling and evaluating financial statements, handling accounts payable and receivable, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. Additionally, this role involves preparing and filing tax returns, supporting audits, and conducting account reconciliations.
ResponsibilitiesOversee financial records, generate reports, and ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulations.Compile and evaluate financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Handle accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payments.Aid in budgeting and forecasting processes.Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations.Manage accounts payable transactions, including coding, data entry, and payment processing.Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accurate transaction recording.Assist in creating financial reports related to accounts payable transactions.Assist with month-end closing tasks.Address vendor inquiries about payment status and discrepancies.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business (preferred) or Associate's Degree with experience.Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.Basic knowledge of debits, credits, and account reconciliation methods.Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.Good communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams.Additional Skills & QualificationsAny professional experience in accounting is a plus.Experience with balance sheet preparation, financial reporting, and GAAP.Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation practices.Work Environment
The work environment is onsite with normal hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, but flexible hours can be accommodated. The company is a family-owned and operated business with a very stable organization.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00
