Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. The role involves heavy monthly account analysis and reconciliation, performing various weekly and monthly tasks, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate will prepare ad-hoc reports, identify and implement improvements to current procedures, assist in system implementations, and perform other duties as assigned. You must be able to meet deadlines, including working overtime and weekends if necessary, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
ResponsibilitiesConduct heavy monthly account analysis and reconciliation, including prepaids, fixed assets, intangible assets, liabilities, and equity accounts.Perform various weekly and monthly tasks and general ledger maintenance procedures, such as posting sales.Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as required.Identify and implement improvements to current procedures.Assist in system implementations and perform other various duties as assigned.Meet deadlines, including availability to work overtime and weekends as necessary.Work accurately in a fast-paced environment.Communicate effectively among all levels of the organization.Participate in special projects as needed.Adhere to established financial integrity policies.Maintain financial security and confidentiality by following internal accounting controls.Adhere to policies and procedures set forth in the employee handbook at all times.Essential SkillsProficiency in accounting and general ledger maintenance.Experience with tax filing and business license renewals.Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with high-level Excel skills.BS degree in Accounting from a 4-year university.Two to three years of accounting experience, including account analysis, reconciliation, and preparation of journal entries.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate and analyze figures and amounts.Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.Additional Skills & QualificationsRetail experience, especially in the grocery sector, is highly preferred.Experience with B&O, Excise, SBT & LCB taxes preferredExperience with E-commerce platforms such as Instacart, DoorDash, Amazon, and Uber Eats.Experience with financial reporting, balance sheets, financial statements, pivot tables, and audits.Work Environment
The work environment is fast-paced and may require overtime and weekend work to meet deadlines. The role involves working with various technologies and equipment, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00
