**Job Summary**
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will help ensure that payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general cashiering adhere to all related local and corporate policies and procedures.
**Responsibilities**
· Possess a working knowledge of all areas of Accounting to ensure adequate coverage when needed.
· Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping/data entry, ensuring that income is properly recorded, and that an accurate and timely Daily Revenue Report is generated and distributed.
· Safeguard cash assets through monthly bank reconciliations, cash counts of all issued banks, and report any discrepancies to the Director of Finance.
· Perform all daily, monthly, and other periodic accounting and financial reporting accurately and on time.
· Assist in preparing financial statements, accrual and journal entries, and maintaining reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in the established corporate format, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Support Month-End and Year-End processes, adhering to all applicable deadlines.
· Prepare and coordinate monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations, ensuring all outstanding reconciling items are investigated and resolved satisfactorily.
· Participate in physical inventory counts and ensure the accuracy of count, price, and valuation.
· Oversee the efforts, quality, and timeliness of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
· Assist in preparing and conducting periodic audits of vacation and medical deductions.
· Prepare necessary backup documentation or work papers to provide analysis and control over balance sheet and general ledger accounts for internal and external audits.
· Be familiar with the records control program, including security, retention, and disposal, in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
· Assist in the preparation and submission of all relevant taxes.
· Attend relevant meetings.
· Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and various properties staff.
· Ability to understand and work in various accounting systems.
· Ability to create documents in Excel and Word.
· Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System and Point of Sale).
· Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
**Education and Experience Requirements**
· College education or equivalent experience required.
· One (1) to three (3) years general accounting experience including full balance sheet reconciliations preferred and one (1) to three (3) years related experience in financial statement preparations desirable. Hospitality experience preferred.
**Policy and Service Responsibility**
· Must adhere to all hotel/company loss prevention guidelines.
**Physical Requirements**
· Able to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quality standards.
· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
· Must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently.
