Staff Accountant
Staff Accountant – Interview Happening This Week Location: Carteret, NJ Job Type: Full-time, On Site J ob Description: The ideal candidate is degreed with solid accounting experience, has a strong working knowledge of the energy industry, and is able to work with the accounting team and all levels of staff and management to handle or assist with various accounting and finance functions in the liquids terminal business. Responsibilities: + Mid-month and end-of-month billing responsibilities for the SE Region business. + Interpret contract terms for pricing and billing. + Conduct A/R aging analysis, including validation of invoices, monitoring delinquency reporting, and following up on outstanding balances. + Prepare various journal entries to handle monthly reporting duties. + Prepare and submit various governmental reports as required by regulatory agencies both federal and state. + Prepare related monthly balance sheet reconciliations. + Understand and apply Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls. + Assist with internal and external audits. + Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested by management and corporate accounting. + Daily interaction with field personnel, products movement group, and business development group. + Maintain regular, dependable attendance, and a high level of performance. + Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public. + Perform other duties as assigned. Top Skills: + Accounting + General Ledger + Excel Must Haves: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution. + 3-5+ years of GL accounting experience. + Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley rules. + Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access. + Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to resolve simple to complex issues. + Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels, internally and externally. + Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize daily work, reprioritize on short notice, and maintain strict confidentiality. + Ability to work overtime during high volume periods, including month/quarter/year-end close. + Self-motivated with the ability to perform required duties with minimal direct supervision. + Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
