Description We are looking to bring onboard a Staff Accountant in Redwood City, California. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including the daily monitoring of banking activity, the reconciliation of bank transactions with the general ledger, and the resolution of discrepancies. This is a long-term contract employment opportunity that requires collaboration with multiple groups within and outside the Finance team.
Responsibilities:
• Apply receipts to the general ledger accurately and promptly
• Monitor banking activity throughout the day
• Collaborate with various teams, including Billing and Collections, Attorneys, Secretaries, to resolve unmatched receipts, incomplete payments, and other unclear transactions
• Ensure daily cash received in the bank matches with cash applied to the general ledger, and address variances promptly
• Follow up on pending items proactively and resolve them
• Provide regular updates and daily summaries to the Finance team and firm leadership
• Work with the General Ledger team to resolve credits and other unposted bank activity
• Suggest improvements for business processes
• Maintain and troubleshoot current technology solutions for cash application
• Prioritize tasks and escalate issues promptly to higher management
• Oversee the application of customer credit applications accurately and efficiently
• Maintain accurate customer credit records. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes and operations
• Experience with Accounts Receivable (AR) procedures
• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations accurately and efficiently
• Thorough understanding of General Ledger management
• Skilled in creating and maintaining Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in using NetSuite for accounting operations
• Familiarity with Oracle financial software
• Experience with QuickBooks accounting software
• Knowledge of SAP financial software for accounting tasks
