Staff Accountant
Description We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join our team located in Lake Worth, Florida. In this role, you will be handling a variety of accounting tasks, including processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements. Responsibilities: • Handle month-end close duties such as billings, grant reconciliations, and journal entries. • Conduct a thorough analysis of balance sheet accounts changes on a monthly basis. • Compare agency and program Statement of Activities to budget each month. • Manage and update the prepaid register and handle amortization journal entries. • Oversee fixed assets, including additions and disposals, and maintain related depreciation schedules. • Perform select bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis. • Manage general ledger transactions and prepare correcting or reconciling journal entries for CFO approval. • Compile, reconcile, and review monthly Grant Reimbursement billing, monthly Grant expenditures, and related supporting billing information. • Assist CFO in ensuring compliance with grant awards by ensuring funds are spent on allowable costs and are properly recorded and segregated. • Participate in the preparation of grant reports and annual grant budgets. • Review overall presentation and accuracy of Grants Register and reconciliation to general ledger. • Review monthly AR Aging report before submission to CFO. • Post unbilled accounts receivable entries prepared by other staff. • Act as the custodian for the Petty Cash Account, Bus Passes, and Gift Cards. • Review and approve weekly AP Batches, ensuring correct general ledger coding, expense approval, allowed cost, and available funds. • Review all credit card transactions, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, correct coding, and full reconciliation to the monthly statement. • Review monthly petty cash count and replenishment request. • Assist CFO with preparation and management of Agency and Program Budgets. • Assist CFO with grant and financial statement audits and Form 990 preparation. • Assist CFO with Cost Allocation analysis and maintenance. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes • Experience with Bank Reconciliations • Knowledge of General Ledger management • Capability to handle Journal Entries • Familiarity with Month End Close procedures • Proficiency in the use of NetSuite accounting software • Experience in using Oracle for managing accounting tasks • Proficiency in the use of QuickBooks • Knowledge of SAP accounting software • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to accounting and taxation • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
