Job Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for handling various daily tasks related to General Accounting and Financial Reporting, including General Ledger management, Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Accounts Payable (A/P). This role involves tracking, submitting, and managing payments, invoices, and outstanding debts, as well as preparing reports and data to support management in making informed financial decisions. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will develop and conduct internal control assessments and audits for both the US and Mexico regions.
ResponsibilitiesAccurately record, review, and post journal entries to the general ledger in a timely manner.Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including preparing schedules and reconciliations.Prepare necessary accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications as required.Conduct account reconciliations for cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain accurate financial records.Support the preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP for management review.Provide required documentation and assistance during external audits.Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.Perform financial, operational, and compliance audits to verify accuracy, integrity, and efficiency in processes and reporting.Develop and deliver detailed internal audit reports outlining findings, risks, and actionable recommendations to management.Compile statistical, financial, and accounting reports on matters such as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable/receivable, and profit and loss.Address accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting relevant data.Stay current with industry developments by participating in educational programs, reading professional literature, maintaining networks, and engaging in professional organizations.Contribute to the success of the accounting department and organizational goals by delivering relevant results as required.Safeguard the organization's integrity by maintaining strict confidentiality of information.Perform other duties and assignments as needed.Essential SkillsMinimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.At least 3-5 years of experience in a staff accounting role.Proficient in accounting, banking, and insurance principles and practices.Establishes and sustains strong working relationships with management, customers, suppliers, and team members.Effectively manages and prioritizes extensive volumes of data and information.Demonstrates self-direction and the ability to work independently, effectively managing pressure and meeting tight deadlines.Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strong commitment to customer service excellence.Embraces challenges, proactively identifies needs, and eagerly takes on new projects.Exhibits strong attention to detail, maintaining focus, thoroughness, and accuracy.Adapts to changing circumstances and collaborates effectively with colleagues.Displays strong mathematical skills and aptitude.Proficient in using various accounting and ERP systems, along with Microsoft Office applications.Possesses excellent communication abilities and demonstrates effective leadership skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsManufacturing accounting experienceWork Environment
Currently, the role is remote due to moving office buildings. The new building will still be in Southfield, MI. This position will start remotely but eventually transition to a hybrid model, requiring 4 days in the office and 1 remote day (typically Monday or Friday). The new office will feature modern facilities including dual computer monitors, conference rooms, and more.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $39.00/hr.
