Description Robert Half is in search of a Staff Accountant for our client in the nonprofit sector, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. As the Staff Accountant, you will play an integral role in the financial operations of the organization. This is a short-term contract to full time employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of financial records following nonprofit accounting principles, which involves recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and managing the general ledger • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and reports for various stakeholders, including internal leadership, board members, and grant agencies • Oversee compliance with federal and state nonprofit tax filings, preparing 990 forms and other tax-related necessities • Monitor and manage grant expenditures, ensuring they align with grant agreements and federal, state, or donor-imposed restrictions • Conduct budget analysis pertaining to grants and programs, working in collaboration with program managers to monitor grant spending • Utilize Excel tools, such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros, for data analysis and report preparation • Support annual audits by preparing schedules, documents, and responding to auditor inquiries • Assist in implementing best practices in financial processes, internal controls, and reporting Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) operations • Expertise in managing Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations • Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance • Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries • Competence in executing Month End Close procedures • Knowledge of Annual Tax preparations and submissions • Understanding of Government Grants and related accounting Robert Half puts you in the best position to succeed by advocating on your behalf and promoting you to employers.
