As a Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the organization’s financial health. Your responsibilities will include:
+ General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure the general ledger is up to date.
+ Financial Reporting: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to provide leadership with accurate insights into the organization’s financial position.
+ Grant Accounting: Monitor and record restricted and unrestricted grant activities in compliance with non-profit accounting and grantor requirements.
+ Accounts Payable & Receivable Support: Assist in reviewing invoice coding, processing payments, and tracking donor contributions or receivables.
+ Audit Preparation: Support the organization’s annual audit process, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and accessible.
+ Process Improvement: Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.
+ Budget Assistance: Participate in budget development and monitoring efforts alongside the finance team.
Requirements
We are searching for a skilled and motivated accounting professional with the following qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ Experience: 1-3 years of general accounting experience; non-profit experience is a strong plus but not required.
+ Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, NetSuite, or similar); advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
+ Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
+ Knowledge Base: Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and fund accounting is preferred.
+ Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively across departments.
+ Problem-Solver: A proactive attitude when faced with challenges, with a focus on finding effective solutions.
