Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Quincy, Massachusetts. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the financial operations of our enterprise, which includes various responsibilities like managing accounts, maintaining budgets, and contributing to our fiscal goals. Responsibilities: • Accurately process journal entries for labor, fringe distribution, and other cost allocations. • Manage and maintain annual budgets for assigned programs, including individual grant/contract budgets. • Regularly update budget information in the accounting system and prepare budget versus actual analyses. • Handle billing and reporting for each assigned program, track related accounts receivable and cash receipts, and prepare required funder reports. • Take primary responsibility for multiple accounting functions within the fiscal department such as accounts payable and receivable, daily cash reporting, and payroll allocation. • Conduct monthly reconciliations as required and prepare work papers for the annual agency-wide audit. • Work collaboratively with the Fiscal department staff to develop and implement department procedures and policies. • Maintain an accurate inventory listing and physical identification of assets related to assigned programs and administration. • Support fundraising efforts by accurately tracking and recording donations. • Provide back-up support to other Accountants and the Payroll Manager, including cross-training on other department functions. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business, etc. preferred. Associate’s Degree in a business field, plus 5+ years direct experience in an accounting department may substitute for Bachelor’s Degree. 2. Minimum three years previous experience in similar or related work 3. Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with extensive knowledge of excel spreadsheets. 4. Experience with Comprehensive accounting systems, such as Blackbaud, Sage or Dynamics.
