We offer a complete package of facilities services, including including HVAC, mechanical and electrical construction services, engineering, design, installation, repair and maintenance. **Job Title:** --Staff Accountant Job Summary: --New England Mechanical Services, Inc. is looking for a Staff Accountant to work in our South Windsor, CT Headquarters Office. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, including but not limited to, recording financial transactions, reconciling bank statements, preparing journal entries, managing inventory control, and assisting with month-end / year-end closing processes while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). **Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following** : • Maintains financial records by preparing and posting monthly journal entries. • Maintain and distribute information on apprenticeship hours. • Prepares and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations. • Prepares and reconcile bank accounts. • Sales and use tax analysis and payment processing. • Manage and maintain all bond requests and necessary updates. • Maintain and perform 1099 annual filing process. • Provide insurance compliance support as needed. • Code miscellaneous accounts payable invoices. • Perform necessary month-end data entry and analysis. • Assist with annual / bi-annual internal and external audits. • Assist with job forecasting monthly preparation and process. • Manage and maintain inventory control, including inventory counts & balances. Light travel required to our divisions. • Review of the Job Cost Reports and analysis of billings / unbilled status of construction contracts. • Perform all necessary functions to maintain accurate prevailing wage payments for CT, MA, NY & RI prevailing wage jobs. • Perform all necessary functions to process and pay all property taxes. • Review and learn processes of our computer applications. • Review and learn sales tax laws for the states we work in. **Qualifications** : -- Required: Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, business or finance from a four-year college or university, and minimum two years of related experience. Must be proficient in ERP's and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook.
