Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the field of Higher Education in Charleston, South Carolina, for a Staff Accountant. This role involves supporting the accounting department by ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, assisting with audits, and managing accounts payable. Responsibilities: • Ensuring adherence to accounting department policies and procedures • Assisting with year-end audits and compliance tasks throughout the year • Managing all aspects of accounts payable using appropriate technology tools • Collaborating with team members to contribute to the success and efficiency of the department • Processing all invoices for payment in a timely and efficient manner • Maintaining vendor and other accounting files with precision • Reconciling all accounts to ensure accuracy • Negotiating discounts and optimal terms with vendors • Collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure appropriate approvals and documentation for all payments. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field • Proven experience as a Staff Accountant in a similar role • Proficiency in accounting software, specifically QuickBooks • Strong understanding and experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience performing Bank Reconciliations • Working knowledge of the General Ledger and ability to maintain it accurately • Ability to prepare Journal Entries as required • Experience with Month End Close procedures • Excellent analytical and numerical skills • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot numerical errors • Good organizational and time-management skills • Knowledge of the higher education industry is a plus • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information • Commitment to continuous detail oriented development and learning in the accounting field Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
