Staff Accountant
Description Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of general accounting practices, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency with financial systems. Key Responsibilities: + Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. + Perform regular reviews of general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed. + Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including invoice processing, payments, and aging analysis. + Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders. + Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, policies, and procedures. + Collaborate with other departments to obtain necessary information for financial monitoring and reporting. + Assist in the preparation of tax filings and support audits as required. + Utilize accounting and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems proficiently and contribute to process improvement initiatives. + Monitor and maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. + Stay updated on accounting principles, regulatory changes, and best practices to bring value to the organization. Requirements + Required Skills and Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 2+ years of professional accounting experience (experience in a corporate or public accounting environment preferred). + Proficiency in accounting and ERP software (experience with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP is highly desirable). + Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups, and data analysis). + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally. + CPA certification (or working toward certification) is a plus but not required. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience with compliance reporting and tax filings is a strong asset. + Exposure to financial reporting in industries such as healthcare, financial services, real estate, or manufacturing is desirable. + Background working with advanced data analytics tools or AI-based platforms is a plus.
