Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity in the government sector at North Charleston, South Carolina, for a Staff Accountant. As a Staff Accountant, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records and processing complex accounting transactions. You will also be responsible for processing payroll in compliance with State and Federal Laws, along with conducting regular audits and reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure processing of payroll for employees on a bi-weekly basis, in accordance with State and Federal Laws
• Participate in maintaining a complete set of financial records and make necessary adjustments to ledgers and sub-ledgers
• Oversee and perform reconciliation, reporting, and auditing of the general ledger's financial information
• Prepare and participate in processing complex accounting transactions
• Utilize software such as Paylocity and QuickBooks for accounting purposes
• Conduct monthly close of accounts and create journal entries
• Maintain files and reports related to quarterly reports, retirement, and other duties
• Handle tasks related to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) operations, including managing and recording all outgoing payments.
• Expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR), including tracking and resolving outstanding payment issues.
• Capability to perform regular Bank Reconciliations to ensure financial records and transactions are accurate.
• Familiarity with General Ledger functions, including maintaining and balancing subsidiary accounts.
• Experience in preparing Journal Entries, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Demonstrated ability in managing Month End Close procedures, including preparing financial statements and reports.
• Proficiency in using Oracle for financial management and reporting.
• Experience with QuickBooks for managing business payments, billings and payroll functions.
• Ability to Process Payroll, including calculation of employee work hours, managing deductions, and ensuring timely payment.
