Staff Accountant
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant role in the industry, located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The workplace is dynamic, and the role is focused on processing customer credit applications, maintaining accurate customer records, and resolving customer inquiries. You will also be responsible for monitoring customer accounts and taking appropriate action. Responsibilities: • Carry out monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy. • Perform comprehensive reconciliations of general ledger accounts, providing detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions. • Provide assistance to the Accounting Manager and VP of Finance on special projects. • Ensure accurate monthly journal entries for payroll, benefits, and sales tax. • Guarantee confidentiality by protecting company value and information. • Process and balance payroll in each period, ensuring accuracy. • Update employee payroll records and make necessary changes. • Add PTO and any miscellaneous deductions into Paychex. • Oversee the accurate entry of payroll information into the monthly payroll entry spreadsheet. • Register payroll tax and unemployment taxes in new states as required. • Process payroll garnishments on a bi-weekly basis. • Confirm 401k contributions on a biweekly basis. • Balance sales tax general ledger to monthly sales tax reports. • Prepare property tax returns, annual informational returns, and census reports. • Submit monthly/quarterly sales tax filings to multiple state tax authorities using Avalara reports. • Ensure Cert Capture program is updated with accurate tax certificates. • File for new state tax accounts as required. • File annual report to the Secretary of State office, and other annual reports. • Perform other related duties such as photocopying, creating correspondence, performing audits and various projects. Requirements • Possess working knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) • Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience with Bank Reconciliations • Understanding of General Ledger management • Capability to prepare and manage Journal Entries • Familiarity with Month End Close procedures • Skill in using Paychex Payroll software • Experience with Payroll processing • Knowledge in handling Payroll - Garnishments • Ability to manage Payroll Taxes • Proficiency in handling Sales Tax procedures Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
