Staff Accountant

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Construction/Contractor industry, located in Roseville, Minnesota. This role is primarily focused on project accounting, providing critical financial support to our construction projects. As a Staff Accountant, you will play an integral role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information related to our projects.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the accurate and timely coding and processing of subcontractor and supplier invoices, including verification of approval.
• Thoroughly reviewing the construction contract requirements for assigned projects to ensure all financial aspects are properly managed.
• Proactively monitoring customer and subcontractor contract amounts and change orders in our financial system.
• Ensuring all project costs are appropriately accounted for and processed in a timely manner.
• Preparing and reconciling project billings, making sure all allowable costs are billed promptly.
• Keeping track of subcontractor lien waivers, for all applicable Tiers (I, II, III & IV) and ensuring they are collected and recorded accurately.
• Preparing necessary journal entries to keep financial records up-to-date and accurate.
• Conducting regular account and monthly reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and general ledger checks.
• Ensuring completed projects are closed out on time, adhering to the close documents.
• Identifying any costs improperly charged to a project and rectifying the error. Requirements • Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proficiency in Bank Reconciliations and Account Reconciliation
• Extensive knowledge in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries
• Demonstrated ability in performing Month End Close procedures
• Experience in Monthly Reconciliation
• Familiarity with Job Cost and Project Cost methods
• Construction/Contractor industry experience preferred
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
