Staff Accountant I

KARL STORZ is currently recruiting a Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting, who will be responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze and interpret financial information, prepare journal entries and prepare financial reports.

 

This is a hybrid role that will be required to work onsite in our Charlton, MA office 3 days per week. 

 

Responsibilities:

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare and post journal entries and prepares all forms of financial statements. Maintains or oversees the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. Performs account reconciliation, research and records corrections. Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.  Identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss and cash flow statements, prepares and consolidates financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports. Designs, modifies, implements and/or maintains accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions. Prepares intercompany billing statements and addresses questions from staff. Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures and internal controls. Assists in the preparation of technical accounting and financial reporting position papers for review; for auditors, revenue recognition, segment reporting, acquisitions and discontinued operations.   Documents accounting policy and procedures utilized by accounting staff and KARL STORZ staff for reference. Recommends and implements process improvement activities to streamline accounting processes. Independently leads ad hoc special projects, as assigned, by accounting management.

 

Requirements

Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in Accounting Bachelor’s Degree Proficiency with MS Office; advanced excel skills for manipulating and analyzing large data sets, while maintaining data integrity  General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Strong business acumen Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task Strong oral and written communication skills Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail Willingness and ability to contribute process improvement suggestions Display high sense of urgency and professional customer-service focus Possess the ability to maintain strict confidentiality with corporate financial information Available to work after normal business hours as needed to meet business needs and deadlines

 

Preferences:

Proficiency using SAP Power Query / Power Pivot / Tableau knowledge
