The role you’ll contribute:

The financial services for the Florida Hospital Tampa Bay area facilities are centralized; thus, the Staff Accountant II performs separate but similar reimbursement accounting functions for 6 hospitals. The Staff Accountant II assists with the close activities related to the valuation of net revenue, accounts receivable and allowances for contractual, bad debt and charity for multiple hospital A/R systems (including Star, Siemens, Cerner), physician A/R (currently NextGen, AdvancedMD), and home health A/R.

The Staff Accountant II follows AHS corporate standard methodologies to support revenue, contractual and bad debt entries such that the centralized department services receive favorable scorecard results when reviewed periodically by AHS Corporate including internal audit, cash management, and reimbursement reviews. This position also supports an effective and efficient annual external audit for each of the facilities we serve.

The position routinely analyzes, compiles and summarizes data in response to the needs of the Senior Accountants, Reimbursement Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller/AVP, AVP-Physician Services, AHS Corporate leaders, consultants, and external auditors (financial/governmental).

The Staff Accountant II works collaboratively with Adventist Health System Corporate Reimbursement, the patient financial services staff, and other departments in the multihospital accounting office to meet governmental filing requirements including (but not limited to) filing the Medicare cost reports, Medicaid cost reports, and AHCA annual reports for each facility. This position also supports financial audits and governmental audits/desk reviews associated with the filed cost reports.

As an accountant in a centralized, multihospital finance department, the position is responsible for fostering a professional, pleasant work environment and moving through assignments with velocity and precision. The Staff Accountant II proactively partners with the reimbursement accounting team members and manager to continuously improve processes in a fast paced environment with many important projects running concurrently.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

Supports financial statement close process by:

generating and organizing source reports for the net revenue valuation,

reconciling Medicare logs, and,

preparing, recording and analyzing monthly and year-end closing journal entries related to revenue, contractual and cash activity for non-interfaced A/R.

Assists the reimbursement team in meeting the financial statement closing and reporting responsibilities in accordance with closing schedules published by Controller/AVP and Reimbursement Manager.

Learns quickly and executes work with minimal need for oversight once training is complete.

Publishes requested A/R related supporting schedules and electronic files to CFOs, AVPs, hospital based finance managers, and corporate employees in a timely manner without need for prompting.

Compiles information and works in partnership with AHS Corporate Reimbursement to prepare Medicare cost reports, Medicaid cost reports, AHCA annual reports and other third party reporting as requested.

MaintainsMedicare and Medicaid correspondence and work papers in a manner that is organized and compliant with regulatory record retention standards.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Bachelor of Science in Accounting (depending on relevant work experience may be Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Accounting, Finance or Business Management).

At least three years progressive experience in corporate general accounting services including financial statement closing responsibilities.

Reconciled balance sheet accounts to satisfaction of management, regulators, and/or auditors.

Prepared schedules and gathered information used by management or for regulatory reporting.

Participated in measurable performance improvement of finance department function, process, or team effectiveness.
