Responsibilities The Staff Accountant II is a key member of the Finance team and will assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and process improvements. This role will support all aspects of Finance activities, including reporting and financial budgeting/forecasting responsibilities. The position requires a proactive approach to problem solving, and a commitment to achieve deadlines and produce accurate information. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and establish open and collaborative channels of communication. Monthly, quarterly, and annual period close responsibilities for assigned accounts and functional departments: Meet with leaders to review results and investigate and explain variances to budget or forecast, Prepare accruals, schedules, reports, and account reconciliations, and Provide variance analysis and commentary for board decks. Assist in the preparation of functional department operating results in terms of cost, budgets, and operating policies. Investigate and explain variances to management. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for assigned functional departments. Assist in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls to support US GAAP. Build and maintain high level knowledge across all business areas by staying current on initiatives, challenges, and opportunities across the business. Support annual audits and tax return preparation support. Identify, design, and implement process improvements to support finance, operational, and strategic initiatives. Maintain prepaid expense schedule and reporting: Manage monthly amortization schedule, Provide monthly reporting to department leaders, and Provide guidance to A/P on proper prepaid G/L coding. Maintain debt and interest schedule and reporting for debt covenants: Manage monthly amortization schedule, Provide monthly reporting to CFO for quarterly covenants. Assist with administrative duties for corporate credit card and travel and entertainment expenses. Complete annual census reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. 3 – 5 years of relevant accounting experience CPA with public accounting experience preferred. Retail experience (multi-unit/multi-state) preferred.
