General Summary
Assists with compliance requirements of federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding application of, filing of, and payment of business licenses and indirect taxes for over 80 Southern States Cooperative locations and over 45 Member Cooperative locations. Requires the ability to work independently, monitor filing requirements and meet deadlines for numerous locations in multiple states, to avoid penalties. Assists with account reconciliations and analysis as needed.
Essential Job Functions
File and/or direct the filings and payments of business licenses for the numerous Southern States Cooperative and Member Cooperative locations
Prepare and file personal property tax returns with state and local tax agencies
Remit payments of real estate and personal property taxes with considerations to efficiency while mindful of cash flow
Prepare sales and use tax returns as assigned
Promptly respond to various requests from operations, including sales tax exemption certificates
Prepare journal entries when needed and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
Field and assist with audit requests and preparation
Participate in ad hoc projects, research and analysis as assigned
