Staff Actuary II, Expense Actuary

Job Summary

Work effectively with multiple stakeholders to update, refine, and implement expense assumptions into actuarial processes. Supports initiatives and takes ownership of project assignments in product development, pricing, valuation and/or risk management.

         

          

Job Responsibilities and Duties

Assist in creating and refining expense allocation methodologies that ensure accurate and consistent distributions of costs across Thrivent’s insurance products.Develop, maintain, and refine models to forecast and allocate expenses from across the organization.Work closely with other teams to align on cost assumptions, risk factors, and trends.Aid in annual regulatory exercises such as Cash Flow Testing and Illustration Testing.Research, develop, document and recommend appropriate assumptions and methods to use in models.Perform and/or lead analysis, testing and evaluation of produced outcomes.Contribute to a variety of diversified and challenging projects, potentially lead some portions of projects, and perform some regular procedures.Apply actuarial principles commensurate with the Associate of Society of Actuaries certification.Must have passed a minimum of two FSA exams and be committed to continued progression through Society of Actuaries exams.Supervise actuarial interns as necessary.Models Thrivent’s leadership competencies – Courage, collaboration, and commitment by demonstrating resiliency, working together to make the best decisions, and holding themselves and other accountable.Supports and/or develops an environment in which Thrivent employees and colleagues are focused on continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. Job Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree.ASA & MAAA.2 FSA Exams.3 years’ experience.

Additional Information

This position allows a flexible work arrangement meaning you may work on-site and/or remotely from the Minneapolis, MN or Appleton, WI area.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $118,105.00 - $159,788.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
