Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff Aerodynamics and Stores Separation Engineer  to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.  This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Responsibilities may include

Perform aerodynamic characterization efforts utilizing analytical methodsPlan, coordinate, execute and oversee wind tunnel test including two body separation testsConduct aircraft separation analysesStand up, Develop and manage tools for conceptual design and aircraft grid creation and perform Captive Trajectory Support (CTS) analysisSupport conceptual and preliminary design efforts of aircraft and componentsProduce analysis products that calculate aerodynamic loads on separating bodiesProgress infrastructure for databases, codes, and tools managementDrive and support wind tunnel, ground, and flight testingDevelop test methods for experimental aerodynamic and performance characterizationExecute uncertainty analysesCollaborate closely with cross-functional and program-based teamsRepresent work products in customer meetings and design reviewsCollaborate with other disciplines including Configuration, Aerodynamics, S&RE, CFD, Mechanisms, etc.Able to work self-directed and give poignant and clear recommendations to leadership

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 10 years of relevant experienceMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearanceMust have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.Experience partnering with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop aircraft and subsystems in support of aerodynamic stores integrationPrevious experience with onsite support of wind tunnel testing and data acquisition systemsSolid understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals, CFD techniques, and wind tunnel testing, including two body separation testsExperience with aerodynamics tools and techniques,Familiarity with translating aerodynamics analyses into workable design solutions for flight vehiclesExperience generating aerodynamic databases for 6DOF store separation simulations including proximity effectsRun 6DOF trajectory analysisAnalyze acoustic data for open cavities from wind tunnel or CFD measurementsAnalyze requirements and create run condition lists for stores integration testing and numerical analysisUnderstanding of the challenges of flow fields in subsonic, transonic and super sonicFamiliarity with configuration aerodynamics tools

Preferred Qualifications

15+ years professional experience related to requirements development, technical practices, and lead activities in store separation and stores/aircraft compatibility.Experience with DOD safety board process for store separationActive DoD secret clearance

Salary Range: $142,500.00 - $213,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
