Summary The position is in the Front Office of the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues (S/GWI) at the Department of State. It supports the mission to advance the political, economic, and social status of women and girls globally, as well as provides administrative support to the Ambassador and Front Office, manages information flow, and handles sensitive materials. Responsibilities Reviews all incoming and outgoing documents for proper format, grammatical accuracy, completeness, clarity, content, appropriateness, timeliness, and internal consistency. Plans, organizes, and carries out various assignments, coordinates with other staff as necessary, and keeps the supervisor aware of potentially controversial issues. Applies knowledge of administrative laws, policies, and regulations to support program administration and implement best practices and procedures. Prepares both oral and narrative written reports outlining areas of concern and recommended remediation to share with senior Department leadership. Serves as a point of contact for the Front Office for both internal and external stakeholders on a variety of projects and issues of direct concern to the Ambassador and other Front Office leadership. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience identifying and resolving issues related to workflow, efficiency, and effectiveness of organizational operations, as well as planning, organizing, and carrying out various assignments. Experience reviewing incoming and outgoing documents for proper format, grammatical accuracy, completeness, and internal consistency. Experience developing standard procedures for records management of employee information. Experience advising management on administrative policies, procedures, and requirements needed for action and compliance with Department regulations. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position. Education Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.
