Staff Counsel, Employment Litigation

Looking for an employment attorney with experience handling administrative charges/demand letters, single plaintiff litigation and class/PAGA/wage & hour cases (is a plus). The Staff Counsel, Employment Litigation will also support Human Resources and other business teams by providing timely, on-going, on-demand legal counsel and strategic guidance related to employee issues, such as performance management, reasonable accommodations, employees leaves, drug testing, hiring/background checks, team member misconduct, and workplace investigations.

As a Staff Counsel, Employment Litigation here’s what you’ll do:

Manage employment-related litigation and claims (including EEOC), including directing and managing outside counsel, responding to claims, administrative charges, complaints, attorney's letters, and settlement demands, and negotiating appropriate resolutions to claims and other pending matters. Provide legal advice and counsel to internal clients regarding employment law mattersDraft and conduct trainings on relevant employment law topics for HRWork closely with other attorneys and colleagues on legal projectsDevelop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and staffReview legal documents, including complaints, briefs, motions, and settlement agreementsCollaborate with external attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient communication and caseload managementConduct employee interviews and prepare employees for administrative hearingsAssist with the development of policies, standard forms, and processes for HRStays abreast of relevant legal labor and employment developmentsCommunicate with internal clients and provide status reportsProfessional interpersonal and organizational skills, and experience in communicating with colleagues at various levels of the organizationAble to work well within a team environment, as well as individually and collaborate effectivelySuccess working independently with little supervision while delivering results that meet or exceed expectationsOther duties as assignedMust be highly proficient with full Microsoft suite

Here’s what you’ll bring to the team:

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law schoolLicensed to practice lawCandidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a four-year universityMinimum of 3+ years of employment litigation experienceCombination of in-house and law firm experience preferred.Substantive experience in handling litigation including drafting pleadings, discovery and depositions is a must.Some experience with mediations, trials, and arguing motions is a plus.Broad experience and knowledge across a wide range of employment areas including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, wage and hour laws, employment agreements, employment policies, procedures and handbooks, and related areasSuperior communication, writing, and research skillsLegal project management experience is helpfulMust be able to remain organized and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
