Staff Development RN

Positions Summary:

 

Assists in providing leadership, oversight and administration to all long-term care operations. Responsible for

 

ensuring maximum operating efficiency, overall cost-effectiveness, and strict compliance with all applicable

 

State and Federal rules and regulations. Develops, monitors and improves facility quality standards.

 

 

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Directs the orientation program for all new employees and schedules ongoing coordinated education in-services.

 

Evaluates resident care practices throughout the facility and identifies instructional needs.

 

Designs educational programs commensurate with needs.

 

Documents all programming as required by state standards and maintains a reference library.

 

Provides specialized training needs in all departments on request of Department Heads.

 

Notifies Department Heads about scheduling of required staff education, immunizations and additional

 

department education.

 

Administers and records licensed staff competencies.

 

Meets Federal and State education requirements for all programs (e.g. Abuse

 

Prevention and Reporting, OSHA, Fire Prevention, HIPPA, Resident Rights, etc)

 

Coordinates dementia training, hospice in- services, monthly nursing meetings and CPR training.

 

Maintains staff immunization records

 

Tracks infection control issues, antibiotic use and documentation, including daily reporting to PA Patient Safety

 

authority

 

 

 

Assures that call all call bells are answered promptly, meeting all residents’ needs in a timely manner.

 

Reports incidents, accidents or changes in condition to the RN Supervisor immediately.

 

Strictly adheres to infection control and safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures

 

Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information in

 

accordance with HIPAA and other federal and state regulations.

 

Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.

 

Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and

 

work assignments as defined by departmental and facility needs.

Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE

 

5 years previous nursing experience in a long-term care facility preferred.

 

Knowledge of clinical practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long

 

term care.

 

Must be able to effectively communicate with older adults in a manner that conveys warmth and

 

professionalism.

 

LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION

 

Registered Nurse with current active licensure in Virginia
