Staff DevOps Engineer

As a Staff Linux Systems Engineer on the Core Infrastructure Engineering Team, you will be supporting the platform team who are currently working to maintain and grow our hybrid cloud platform. The core individual responsibilities include management of existing and deploying new Linux (RHEL/Azure Linux) systems, provide overall support and automation of the Linux server platform and related Linux Based Services, including troubleshooting issues, defining disaster recovery plans, establish procedures and documentation.   Responsibilities:  • Lead the strategy, standards and operational practices for the Linux platform for our customers • Build and maintain automation around Linux host configuration and software package creation and deployment for various applications • Design, implement and maintain Puppet infrastructure based on organizational requirements and industry best practices • Develop automation, mostly in Python, for systems administration, deployment and configuration of Linux servers, developer desktops and automate operational tasks • Experience using Ansible for automation of operational tasks and managing hosts • Act as a senior resource for the configuration and lifecycle of the Linux Server OS environments including automation and customization • Be a key contributor in a DevOps-oriented team to facilitate the provisioning of Custom Application Servers and continuous lifecycle of Linux Server-based applications running in a Hybrid Cloud infrastructure • Responsible for designing, implementing and automating our build, release, deploy, monitoring and configuration processes • Work collaboratively with peers in the team and perform cloud and cross-platform interoperability tasks • Participate in a 12x7 on-call engineer rotation supporting our core services and take care of escalations • Knowledge sharing, conducting training or mentoring as needed to the team • Deliver improvements to source code management, cost control, security, monitoring, and audit    • Work collaboratively with peers in the adjacent Platform, Network and Storage teams on virtualization and cross-platform interoperability tasks • Collaborate with the extended Core Bangalore Team, and be available to work with Global Helpdesk, Regional IT and other teams in the event of critical outages Basic Qualifications:  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experience • 10+ years in IT, 8+ specifically related to deployment, management and maintenance of Linux Server Operating Systems (preferably RHEL/CentOS) • 5+ years developing scripts in Python and Bash other automation technologies • 3+ years maintaining package/systems management infrastructure, such as Foreman • 3+ years using configuration management tools, such as Puppet • 3+ years in a DevOps role with experience in configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet, experience in software like Github/Azure DevOps and building various stages of the CI/CD pipeline including test automation Preferred Qualifications:  • Experience with Azure Linux (Mariner) OS • Experience configuring and troubleshooting n-tier applications utilizing a least privilege model • Experience with cloud and hybrid compute architecture including VMWare ESXi, Microsoft Azure • Familiarity with PBIS/Likewise, SSSD • Experience in scripting with Bash, proficient in creating/managing custom APIs in python using Flask or Fast API • Familiarity with Apache-based services such as Apache ATS, Tomcat as well as creating services using frameworks like Flask • Experience supporting Linux server systems in a heterogenous environment with Windows, Mac and Linux clients • Experience creating and maintaining golden/Master OS images for deployment in a virtual environment (VMware & Azure) • Experience securing Linux OS, Satellite Servers, and Linux Applications/Services • Experience in patch management for Linux environments • Experience in setting up, and maintaining Configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet, in a hybrid environment • Experience in creating custom automated solutions/frameworks for day-to-day operational tasks Suggested Skills: • Linux • Puppet • Ansible • DevOps • Python You will Benefit from our Culture: We strongly believe in the well-being of our employees and their families. The pay range for this role is $134,000 to $221,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
