Staff Distribution Engineer (San Diego)
**Description** Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design. Develop and prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables. Perform various distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations. Apply strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures. Additionally, apply California CPUC GO95 and GO128 design standards and construction principles. Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers. Perform field inspections for overhead and underground electric facilities on public and private utility systems. Prepare and disseminate project communication regarding vegetation management, third-party attachments, right-of-way, and outage planning. Develop client presentations, reports, and visualizations to demonstrate technical results and project status. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Primarily domestic travel up to 15% for internal meetings and client and site visits. **Qualifications** Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus five (5) years of electrical engineering experience. Alternatively, the employer will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus four (4) years of electrical engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of described experience. Must have minimum required two (2) years of experience in each of the following: + Electrical distribution design or system engineering. + Fielding Electrical Distribution Overhead and Underground facilities. + Utilizing NESC and NEC design standards and codes. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Primarily domestic travel up to 15% for internal meetings and client and site visits. 40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, $160,000 - $200,000/Year The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations.
