Staff Electrical Engineer (Austin)
**Description** Responsible for substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the US and internationally. Main responsibilities include creating electrical protection & control and/or physical layout design deliverables. Projects range in size, complexity, and voltage class from small distribution equipment upgrades (12kV) to large transmission projects (500kV). This position can influence the future of the resiliency and reliability of the electric grid. Primarily domestic travel is required up to 15% of the time for site visits, client visits, and technical conferences. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Multiple positions available. **Qualifications** Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology\*, or a related field plus three (3) years of power engineering industry experience. * A Bachelor's degree in any Engineering Technology field must be accompanied with the completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT). Alternatively, the employer will also accept a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field plus two (2) years of power engineering industry experience. Position must have at least 2 years of experience in the following areas: + Develop scopes of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans. + Prepare engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules. + Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material. + Protection and control design including panel arrangements, one lines/single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries, equipment wiring and relay panel wiring. + Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.). + Provide short term field support during construction. + Experience with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ ANSI Standards. + Experience with standard engineering techniques and procedures. + Utilize AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and other analysis programs (CDEGs and/or WinlGS).
