As a Staff Engineer, Backend at Via, you’ll drive the development and maintenance of our backend systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and efficient. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in architecting, developing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting in a cutting-edge environment.
What You'll Do:
Lead high-caliber backend engineering teams who design and implement highly scalable, reliable, and performant backend systems and APIs that power Via’s solutions Drive the technical direction and roadmap for backend development, working closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize initiatives and deliver on business objectives Lead by example, contributing hands-on to coding, debugging, and troubleshooting complex technical issues, and driving initiatives to improve development efficiency and productivity Act as a subject matter expert in backend engineering, providing guidance and thought leadership to teams within our R&D center Define and implement coding standards, development processes, and quality assurance practices to ensure the delivery of clean, maintainable code Work with our world-class product and operations teams to convert ideas into a prioritized backlog, and then turn those ideas into reality.Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience Minimum of 8 years of experience in backend software, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable, high-performance systems Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in Python, Java, C++, or C# Proven record of developing and scaling products that are highly available, distributed, and large scale Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with related tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Github actions Strong knowledge of database technologies (SQL/MySQL) in low level performance optimizations, including profiling and memory analysis Expertise with cloud platforms: AWS, Serverless, Kubernetes Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices for building maintainable and testable code. A strong leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members to achieve their full potential Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Ability to drive work forward independently in a cross-functional, geographically distributed team environmentCompensation and Benefits:
Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
