Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Ground Segment Software Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Tactical Division. This technical role is located in Dulles, VA.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the overall architectural design on a funded study effort that stems from system requirements, decomposed across multiple levels aimed to represent the ground capabilities that have a major impact on the mission. You will be interfacing directly with the Software, Operations, Integration and Test teams, as well as program leadership to define and maintain the technical baseline. To be successful you should have a strong background in systems engineering and architecture, with expertise in the development and operation of ground segments for space systems.
This position is responsible for the following:
Lead the development of the overall ground segment architecture, interfaces, and operational conceptsDevelop and maintain the ground segment technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectivesWork closely with program management, systems engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure the ground segment architecture meets program requirementsDrive the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the overall missionLead in the facilitation of technical meetings to establish the future state of the ground segment architectureCollaborate with industry partners and other stakeholders to identify new technologies and capabilities for the ground segmentBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customer counterpartsCommunicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings at technical and program reviews and boardsDeliver presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholdersT
To be successful in this role you should have:
Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processesKnowledge of satellite communications and system operationsExperience writing and presenting technical information to customers and executive managementExperience leading requirement development/testing/verificationBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field from an accredited university with 14+ years’ experience (OR a Master’s Degree with 12+ years’ experience or a PhD with 9+ years.) Experience can be considered in lieu of degreeExperience with Agile developmentExperience using the DOORS Requirements Management DatabaseExperience working with Atlassian tool suite (i.e. JIRA, Confluence, etc.)Active DoD Top Secret Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain program access at the time of application

Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
