Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Staff Engineer Tool to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting Melbourne, FL.

The Engineer Tool will be part of our Tooling Team and will design Tooling to support Aerospace composite part fabrication, handling, and assembly for the commercial and defense aerospace industries.  Engineers get the opportunity to manage their work from design concept thru implementation.  Our Tooling Team works independently, but interacts closely with safety, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to achieve expectations. 

The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborating with internal and external customers.  You will work closely with manufacturing engineers, CAD Designers, safety, and operations, designing industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, while considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.  If you are looking for an opportunity to grow with a leader in the Aerospace Industry, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

This position requires 100% work on-site located at Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools and fixtures with internal and external customers.Coordinate, develop, and execute test plans.Perform tolerance analysis to ensure form, fit, and function.Conduct root cause failure investigations and implement associated corrective actions.Develop and evaluate process improvements.Assist Product Development Team with new product designs to ensure manufacturability, validate process/technology.Develop manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment in support of our process work instructions and visual aids of our shop planning process and other functions that affect product performance.Manage all phases of project: design, document, fabricate, assemble and validate.

Basic Qualifications Engineer Tool:

Bachelor of Science in a STEM related field with 12 years of experience in engineering, design, tooling, fabrication, or manufacturing/production environment; OR Masters’ Degree with 10 years of experienceExperience standing up production assembly line or cost centerExperience utilizing Siemens NX/CATIA CAD tools or applicable 3D CAD systemsAbility to work in a high pace environmentAbility to work with minimal oversightYour ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in project managementExperience in an aerospace manufacturing environmentExperience with Aerospace Tooling Ability to Read/understand blueprints/GD&T in accordance with ASME 14.51 year of Experience working with SAP

Salary Range: $134,300.00 - $201,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
