Burns McDonnell’s Texas Regional Global Practice, officed out of Houston or Austin, is actively seeking a Staff Environmental Planner to support business for transmission line routing studies, environmental surveys, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis, and land use planning/permitting services.

The Staff Environmental Planner will support the execution of environmental projects and help author environmental studies and analyses to support applications for certificates of convenience and necessity pursuant to authorization from the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) of Texas. Other areas of expertise may include NEPA analysis, resource impact assessment and consultation, and land use planning. This position also includes executing permit applications and analyzing environmental data supporting the development of environmental documents and studies for various types of projects, including high-voltage transmission lines, renewables, power generation construction activities, and upstream and midstream Oil and Gas.
The Environmental Planner will work within our Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice to perform the following primary duties:
Prepare routing studies and evaluations pursuant to CCN applications for approval by the Texas PUCPrepare environmental studies/evaluations, impact analysis, and NEPA documentation for projects serving a variety of marketsConduct pre-application meetings with jurisdictions, interact effectively with county and local staff, prepare and submit land use permits, and prepare material for public open houses and public outreachWork independently and demonstrate competence in the area of technical report writing related to NEPA compliance as well as other types of technical reports and regulatory (Federal, State, local) permitting documentsWork with clients, resource agencies, environmental and technical staff to prepare environmental documents and related technical studiesDevelop, cultivate, and strengthen existing and new client relationshipsOther duties as assigned.
