Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer

Job Description

We are hiring an Environmental Staff Scientist/Engineer with 0-5 years of experience in our Austin, Texas office. An Environmental Staff Engineer/Scientist works with project managers and colleagues to conduct and manage field work and reporting on time, on budget, while meeting or exceeding client expectations. You will contribute to the firm’s success by:

Collaborating closely with other members of the team, company, and clients.Rallying with the project team, keeping on track, and helping drive projects to completion. Communication with team members is essential to keep projects moving.Conducting and managing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).Performing field work such as monitoring well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, advancing soil borings, and product gauging and recovery, etc.Oversight of subcontractors such as drillers and remediation contractors.Assisting with data tabulation and writing technical reports.Helping develop creative solutions for environmental problems to meet client needs and expectations.Building relationships with coworkers, clients, vendors, and partners.Travel to local and regional project sites (up to 20% travel, based on project needs).

What We’d Love to See in You:

BS degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or science-related field.Strong written and verbal communication skills—a willing and open communicator.Detail-oriented, motivated, analytical thinker with a driven work ethic.Curiosity to learn about a wide variety of environmental consulting topics.Works well on a team and independently with minimal supervision.Accepts mentoring from senior staff and managers and has an interest in mentoring more junior staff.Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving history.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Additional Preferred Experience:

Geologist-in-Training or Engineer-in-TrainingEnvironmental consulting experience and enjoys technical work and conducting field work.Experience preparing technical reports, data tables, and figures.Basic understanding of the TCEQ Texas Risk Reduction Program.Experience delineating wetlands in accordance with the USACE Wetlands Delineation ManualGood basic mechanical skills to use and troubleshoot environmental sampling equipment.OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company provided training and mentoring.

Compensation Range:

$48,000.00 - $72,000.00
