SUMMARY
AltairStrickland, LLC has a Staff Estimator/Scheduler position open at its Corporate office located in La Porte Texas. This opportunity is for a full‐time salary staff position working with the Estimating Department.
The successful candidate must have working knowledge of various mechanical processing equipment associated with piping, exchangers, pressure vessels, and other specialized petrochemical process equipment associated with industry turnarounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES included but are not limited to the following:
Performs estimating functions/duties required to provide compliant responses to inquires as requested via customer RFP (Request for Proposal) or other similar documents or requests. Receiving, reviewing, organizing, and tracking customer proposal inquiries. Determine step by step activities, required labor hours, timeline/schedule, sequence and contingencies (if any) to complete the scope identified in the customer RFP or other forms of scope documentation both written and verbal. Determine the labor, material, equipment, consumables, and 3rd party expenses needed to complete the individual tasks and overall scope of work for the customer’s contracting strategy. Responsible for evaluating bid specifications and ensuring the Estimating Department knows all relevant parameters to best position the Company to successfully bid and win targeted/desired projects as well as provide technical and administrative direction to insure operational objectives are Ensures all bids and budget proposals assigned are submitted as requested in a professional format. Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors as necessary to comply with proposal requirements. Maintain contact with customer during bidding process, and maintains log that provides up to date status of all new and ongoing proposals. Conduct field walks as necessary or requested to identify and document job requirements to assist in the proposal process. Utilize critical thinking to provide logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to Properly transfer knowledge of bid/contract details to the Project Management team in a timely manner. Participates in a project kick‐off meeting with appropriate departments, discussing scope, deliverable items, as well as review any areas of concerns with
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A college degree or similar previous job experience is preferred with six to ten years of practical field experience in a service company or refining/petrochemical environment. Additional certifications related to the industry, such as professional certification/credentials, is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Good communication, negotiation skills and the ability to coordinate verbally well with supervisor, co-workers, board of directors, clients, and subordinates are essential. Ability to respond to common inquiries or clarifications request from customers is necessary. Ability to effectively present information and transfer applicable job knowledge to management, clients, and operational executions teams is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general knowledge of industry standard computer utilization, including manipulating, creating, and modifying various word process documents, spreadsheets, and common industry programs such as Primavera, and composing documents to communicate in an electronic format.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While most activities will be performed in an office environment, there will be occasions where site visits require employee to perform field walks. These walks may require employees to climb ladders and or climb stairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is normally working out of an office environment with limited exposure to environmental conditions. Work may take place in congested areas and/or tight restrictive quarters. The noise level is the work environment is usually moderate.
However, on occasion, when visiting a client location or project turnaround job site, the work environment may possibly include hazardous conditions on and around scaffolding or a construction/turnaround site inside of petrochemical facilities. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur. Special PPE may be necessary to control some hazardous environments in which you must verify requirements from your supervisor and or the Safety Department.
