The Position
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
Position is the State boating Law Administrator who is the liaison with the U.S. coast Guard, other state boating law administrators and law enforcement agencies in Nevada as well as other states; coordinate the application for the Coast Guard grant and complete accurate mandatory reporting of the grant; assist with the public relations efforts including news releases, television and radio interviews and development of informational publications; manage the boating law enforcement program; coordinate boating record requests; manage boat accident BARD reporting; create statistical analysis for the boating program; develop long and short range objectives; assist in development of legislative proposals; assist in developing the Division's biennial budget for approval. The position requires Nevada POST Category 1 certification. The position could be located in either Reno or Las Vegas. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife management, biology or closely related field and four years of professional experience in the enforcement of wildlife and boating safety laws and regulations; OR one year of experience as a Game Warden III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Applicants must meet Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST) requirements as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
Special Requirements
A background investigation is required prior to being considered for appointment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
