**Role Overview:**
As a Staff Modernization System Engineer, you will work within Otis’ North American (NAA) Modernization (MOD) Engineering team to design and optimize system product offerings for our modernization customers in the NAA area. You will report to the Otis NAA MOD Engineering Director, who will provide you with training, growth, and personal development opportunities within our company.
**On a Typical Day You Will:**
+ Lead technical efforts for advanced product initiatives within the NAA MOD product development team.
+ Research base technologies required to develop advanced new product solutions from concept to final solution for the MOD business.
+ Identify MOD project technical goals, requirements, and priorities.
+ Plan the required resources and skillsets needed to achieve targeted deliverables.
+ Guide technical staff in day-to-day activities. Track program progress and report status to upper management or end customers as needed.
+ Make key risk/reward decisions on feature deliverables, project timing, and cost.
+ Support the MOD design solutions effort, which will involve design, sourcing, fabrication, and testing or supporting field issues.
+ Develop and refine internal standards, standard work, and procedures for the MOD Engineering process.
+ Mentor and develop team engineers by sharing expertise and knowledge.
**What You Will Need to be Successful:**
**Basic Qualifications** :
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical or systems engineering
+ 8-10 years of experience in the design and development of mechanical system products
+ Ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive the product development process. Key skills include detailed schedule and resource planning, scope/requirements management, and project tracking & reporting
+ Ability to identify configurations of mechanical systems to meet all customer and market requirements at the lowest life cycle cost. Key skills include the ability to perform trade-off studies, evaluate component options and performance, understand mechanical interfaces and constraints, and ensure requirements compliance.
+ Knowledge and practice of fundamental mechanical design principles, including the selection of appropriate materials with consideration for part interactions and forces, and the ability to guide designers with appropriate tolerancing.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master's degree in mechanical or systems engineering.
+ 6 years of experience.
+ Elevator industry experience in the design and development of mechanical system products.

The salary range for this role is $114,400-$171,600. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
