Staff Nurse II, PACU Recovery Room/Pre-Op
**Organization:** NCH-Novato Community Hospital **Position Overview:** Post Anesthesia Care Unit: The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Staff Nurse III provides direct care to surgical patients, with primary emphasis on the immediate postoperative period. The PACU Staff Nurse competently uses the nursing process, medical therapeutics, and technological and personal interventions in assuming responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Cross train to Operating Room. Surgical Services: Coordinates the total care of the patient in the surgical suite, a high-risk environment, using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Assists other personnel before, during and after each surgical procedure. Actively participates in hospital quality assurance/improvement, risk management, clinical operations and customer service excellence. **Job Description** : **EDUCATION** + Associate Degree in Nursing + Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred. **LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS** + Registered Nurse - State Licensure - RN _Required_ + BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire + NIHSS within 90 Days of hire **DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS** + Post Anesthesia Care Unit: Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS + Post Anesthesia Care Unit, CPAN-Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse within 90 Days of hire **TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:** + 2 years of recent relevant experience + 2-3 years PACU, ICU, or ED experience within the last 5 years strongly preferred + CCRN, CNOR, or TNCC strongly preferred + MAB Training within 6 months of hire **DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:** + Department: SPA/PACU, 2 years RN with at least six months of prior experience in PACU, ED, or ICU in a multiple specialty acute care facility within the last two years **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:** + Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology. + Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations. + Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. + Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize patient care, assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet time sensitive activities. + Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook). + Work independently as well as be part of the team, while accomplishing multiple interventions in an ever-changing environment. + Ability to communicate and engage team members, patients and families in a variety of stressful situations. + Use existing procedures and critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems. + Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI). + Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives. + Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. **Job Shift:** Days **Schedule:** Part Time **Shift Hours:** 12 **Days of the Week:** Variable **Weekend Requirements:** As Needed **Benefits:** Yes **Unions:** Yes **Position Status:** Non-Exempt **Weekly Hours:** 36 **Employee Status:** Regular **Number of Openings:** 1 Sutter Health is an equal opportunity employer EOE/M/F/Disability/Veterans.
