Additionally, staff pharmacists are responsible for mentoring and developing pharmacy technicians under their direct oversight, and performing these duties following regulatory guidelines. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Execute day‐to‐day operations in the pharmacy as they pertain to workload, work priority and within all local, state and federal rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy. + Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all third party payor contract rules and regulations by which the pharmacy is bound. + Oversee pharmacy technicians with area of responsibility to ensure prescriptions are being properly processed and dispensed. + Review and verify for accuracy, clinical appropriateness and ability to be reimbursed all new starts, new medication orders and refills requiring intervention. + Check for completeness and accuracy of all dispensed orders. + Provide verbal or written consultation and information to healthcare professionals and customers regarding APN’s services and products. + Assist in the orientation and training of pharmacists and technicians. + Obtain verbal and/or written prescription orders from physicians and/or designee as allowed by law. + Obtain clarification of orders, when necessary. + Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for scheduled II drugs, if such drugs are stocked in the pharmacy. + Document pharmacist actions and information as necessary per APN policies and procedures. + Attend educational programs, orientations, meetings as required by management and licensing requirements. + Provide evening, weekend and holiday coverage during scheduled on‐call rotation as required by management. + Maintain clinical knowledge and skill level sufficient to render assistance to physician and pharmacy staff with regard to therapeutic options for better customer care. + Maintain a professional atmosphere at all times within the pharmacy in order to reflect the seriousness of the nature of the service APN provides. Interact with other departments and/or divisions as needed to perform daily routine and maintain the highest degree of customer service. + Impose a superior standard of quality that is professionally acceptable to APN and APN customers. Inspire pharmacy technicians and other staff to maintain continuous quality improvement. + Maintain working knowledge of the pharmacy computer applications (i.e., new starts, new orders, profiles, refills, etc.) + Assist in ensuring the pharmacy adheres to legal, safety, health, fire and sanitation codes. Incumbent does this by being familiar with the staff pharmacist’s role in carrying out the pharmacy’s emergency preparedness and security plan. + Performs other duties as required. **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** + May supervise Pharmacy Technicians MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS **Education and/or Experience** + Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy + 0 to 2 years’ experience as a licensed pharmacist. + Proficient in the area of clinical interpretation; drug‐drug, drug‐disease, drug‐food interactions and allergies. + Apria Pharmacy Network personnel are expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by their immediate supervisor or the company. In addition, APN personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job‐related skills and abilities and attain any and all necessary continue education credits required for job related licenses. All personnel must attend mandatory educational programs. **Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations** + Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing. + Must complete appropriate training and/or educational programs for approved continuing education credits according to board of pharmacy guidelines. **SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES** + Excellent interpersonal skills and well‐developed verbal and written communication skills. + Excellent organizational skills and detailed oriented. + Excellent customer service skills. + Ability to perform accurately and efficiently when dispensing prescription medications. + Ability to work flexible hours and participate in the on‐call rotation. + Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. + Working knowledge of all government and accreditation regulations impacting pharmacy. + Ability to meet deadlines, establish priorities, and be flexible. + Ability to maintain composure on phone when handling customer or healthcare professional calls. + Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate. + Ability to adapt to frequent changes in workload. + Ability to interact appropriately with colleagues and customers for different purposes and in different contexts. + Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co‐workers + Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. + Ability to think through the consequences of a decision prior to making it. + Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take calmly take appropriate action. + Ability to work independently and identify potentially more effective methods of work operation. + Remains calm and uses beneficial verbal / non‐verbal communications. + Focuses on main problem rather than unrelated issues. + Approaches solutions with an open mind. + Gives others a positive feeling when interacting with them. + Works within the Company policies and procedures. + Is able to communicate effectively with other healthcare providers. + Reports to designated work area as scheduled and is available until the end of the shift; honors lunch and break periods. + Completes peer evaluations in a timely manner and provides thorough responses. + Knows and understands safe practices as it relates to the job. + Schedules time off in accordance with company policy. + Informs supervisor if schedule cannot be met 100% of the time. + Reports accidents as soon as they occur in accordance with company policy. **Computer Skills** + MS Office Level 1 (Basic) skill set. + Intermediate typing, keyboarding and computer skills. **Language Skills** + English (reading, writing, verbal) **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.
