Job Description

We are currently seeking aStaff QA Automation Engineer to work for our RED QA Team. The candidate will work for our RED Storage engineering team who will define and build the automation tests for RED software storage solution.

 

The QA Automation Engineer develops, maintains, and executes automated test scripts, automation applications and testing/QA infrastructures for all phases of testing storage subsystems. Evaluates, recommends, and implements automated test tools/scripts and strategies to expedite testing cycles and improve overall testing quality. Architect, design and implement test harness software, hardware and system solutions used for all phases of development and testing. Works very closely with development engineers on new features during the development cycle. May be required to work closely with devOps team with lab management tasks including system setup, administration and configuration.

 

 

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

Architect, design and develop automated solutions to expedite test.Design test strategies, test plans, and test cases, leveraging test automationWork with other test and development engineers to develop overall automation test architecture that is flexible and reusable across storage platforms.Develop and debug automated test scriptsReviews acceptance criteria, reviews test cases and test automation code, sets up environments, and communicates regularly to project team on defects, issues, and QA statusCoordinate testing effort with other project teams across the globeWork closely with the Test Architect, Test Leads, Test Engineers and Developers/Designers to understand and provide solutions for any challenges that could impact the delivery of test automation.Work with system architecture/design team to understand future products coming so test architecture is designed to handle what is provided.Automation deliverables are easy to utilize and flexible enough that any test engineer can execute with minimal training.Support development & QA teams with system setup, administration, configuration and troubleshoot any equipment issues.

 Qualifications for this role are:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (engineering, quality or related) is required.8+ years of software test automation development and/or QA experience. Must have significant knowledge of test automation and scripting environments.Experience with all phases of the development life cycleExperience with QA methodology, functional and structural testing techniques (Agile a plus)Must have experience in python, pytest and bash. Experience in ansible is a plus.Experience using source code control systems (git preferred).Strong knowledge in software automation testing and their implementations in CICD pipelines (GitHub Action preferred).Proven ability to diagnosis product software issues and effectively communicate the impacts in the appropriate manner.Experience using bug tracking systems (Jira preferred).Ability to read and understand coding languages and logicGood problem solving, organizational, interpersonal and team skillsAbility to work seamlessly as part of a multi-site, multicultural engineering teamSelf-motivated, passionate, and driven to achieve committed milestonesStrong team player with excellent written and verbal skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced development environment with a broad scope of evolving responsibilitiesKnowledge of parallel file system solutions (Lustre, GPFS), NVM storage technology or distributed key-value storage systemsKnowledge of Object Storage and its usageHigh Performance Computing system installation and management is helpful to perform day-to-day activities for this role DDN
