Are you interested in exploring a career on the cutting edge of IC circuit design? You'll leverage your current experience and join our team of scientists and engineers in design of integrated circuits for emerging applications in low temperature environments. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers to make these design solutions a reality.
The Microelectronics Designs and Applications (MDA) business area of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking motivated and experienced Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Engineers to join our team in the design and layout of custom, low-power, RF, analog and mixed signal circuits. The ideal candidate will have experience designing high frequency, low-noise circuits in a range of technology nodes; experience with RF CMOS and SiGe HBTs is highly desirable. Background in high frequency electromagnetic modeling is a plus. Experience with on-wafer RF testing is also desirable.
What You’ll get to Do:
Candidate will be expected to coordinate and lead a team of IC designers and layout engineers to produce high performing, low noise RF circuits.
Tasks will include schematic capture, circuit simulation, circuit layout, physical verification (LVS, DRC), and parasitic extraction for a variety of RF, analog and mixed signal circuits. The right candidate will be comfortable in a dynamic environment with rapidly developing technologies and tools. The right candidate will have experience in custom circuit design with Cadence Virtuoso and modeling circuit performance using ADE/Spectre and/or ADS. The candidate must be able to take a design from concept through modeling, layout and verification and create a test plan based on circuit requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
This position requires work on site in either Baltimore, MD or Sacramento, CA area facilities.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 14 years of experience in either Analog, Digital or Mixed Signal Circuit design (12 years with MSc or 9 years with a PhD)
Solid understanding of circuit design theory; extensive hands-on custom circuit design experience.
Working knowledge of the IC design flow including schematic capture, simulation, layout, and physical verification (DRC/LVS).
Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso for schematic capture, circuit simulation, and custom layout; physical verification using Assura or Calibre.
Microwave engineering background; understanding of s-parameters and impedance matching techniques.
Proficient use of ADS for linear and nonlinear circuit characterization.
Ability to lead an IC design project from concept through tapeout. Create and maintain chip design schedule and meet tight deadlines in accordance with the overall program schedule.
Good understanding of IC manufacturing and testing processes.
Experience with product validation and testing.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, able to efficiently disseminate information to leadership and respective working group.
US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Design chip lead with a proven record of successful tapeouts; ability to design sub-blocks and perform chip level integration.
10+ years of circuit design experience in a variety of technology nodes; experience designing with SiGe HBTs is a plus.
Design of passive and active RF circuits up to 10GHz.
Experience implementing low noise techniques for noise-critical blocks such as LNAs, mixers, op-amps.
Proficient use of commercial tools in predicting the noise behavior of devices and circuits; understanding of device noise modeling.
2D and 3D Electromagnetic modeling background with commercial tools, such as Analyst, Axiem, Clarity, CST, HFSS, Momentum and Sonnet.
Create test plans, collaborate with the test team, supervise product testing, and interpret/disseminate test results.
Experience using scripting languages SKILL or Python.
Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
