Position Description
The Anchor Nurse coordinates daily activities and distribution of work in assigned nursery. This position serves as a resource to Family Center Care nurse regarding the care of the infant.
1. Provides primary care provider to border babies.
2. Responsible for observation of babies while in nursery.
3. Assists primary RN/Physicians in special procedures as needed (blood cultures, diagnostic workups, LP’s, etc.).
4. Serves as resource to primary RN/Physicians.
5. Collaborates with Charge Nurse throughout each shift.
6. Collaborates with primary FCC Team regarding work assignments (normal routine care is responsibility of primary FCC Team).
7. Assists with admission and discharge process as needed.
8. Assures circumcision pre-op checklist is completed accurately.
9. Assists primary FCC Team with circumcisions.
10. Oversees circumcision babies immediately post-procedure.
11. Assures appropriate equipment and adequate supplies in nursery area.
12. Assures nursery area is compliant with Infection Control policies.
13. Verifies competency of unit staff – annually and ongoing.
14. Assists with orientation of new staff.
15. Participants in staff meetings and other hospital committees as needed.
16. Provides constructive feedback regarding competency of unit staff – annually and ongoing.
17. Demonstrates service excellence behaviors routinely in encounters with all customers, i.e., coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, ancillary staff, etc.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:
BSN degree Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Family Centered Care/Maternal Infant Unit/Neonatal Intensive Care Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.Service Area Overview
