Description: Job Summary:
Essential Responsibilities:
The RN participates as a member of the health care team in delivering quality health care to patients, which supports Kaiser Permanente's mission, vision, and values.
The RN provides a variety of nursing services both in person and by phone utilizing the nursing process and leadership skills to address acute and chronic needs of Health Plan members and other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program.
He/she works under the general direction of the designated supervisor.
Participates as a member of the health care team in delivering quality health care to patients.
Applies analytical reasoning, reflection, and rational problem-solving skills, using verifiable information, and clinical judgment, in order to choose among alternative solutions to clinical problems.
Fosters and uses innovative thinking to create alternative solutions.
Demonstrates the ability to analyze, synthesize and utilize data to provide optimal nursing care.
Monitor quality of care delivered by healthcare team.
Brings deviations of workflows and protocols to staff member and manager/supervisor attention.
Mentors new staff and assists with orientation and staff development needs.
Provides support for team and providers.
Manages patient traffic flow.
Rooms member per POE workflow.
Assists provider with procedures as needed.
Complex Wound Care dressings and dressing changes.
InBasket management.
All essential functions of LPN as outlined in LPN JD.
Provide treatment, care, and services to the following patient populations as outlined in protocols written by Chief of Dermatology for the following: (Refer to Dermatology Nurse Extender Protocols and Guidelines.) Acne, Molluscum Contagiosum, Genital Warts, Warts, Rosacea, Levulan PDT- Blu-U, Keloids, Alopecia and Patch Test Reading.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum three (3) years of RN clinical nursing experience.
Minimum two (2) years in Dermatology or in a procedural base practice.
Education
Associates Degree in Nursing or two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire
Wound Care Nurse Certificate within 12 months of hire
Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association
Additional Requirements:
Complete a Customer Service Assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum three (3) years of RN experience plus (2) two years or either ambulatory care, procedure suite or Dermatology.
Prior Dermatology experience preferred.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
The Dermatology RN Nurse Extender: directs, delegates and monitors quality of care delivered by the health care team and brings deviations to the attention of staff involved and Manager, mentors' new staff and assists with orientation and staff development needs, provides support for team and provider(s), manages patient traffic flow. In addition, the Dermatology RN Extender will see and treat certain patient populations within scope of practice based on clear written provider protocols.
