Location/Division Specific Information

This role is based in Bend, Oregon, where our site focuses on developing oral solid dosage forms for small molecules in early clinical trials.

How you will make an impact:

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to groundbreaking drug development. Your work will guide others and directly impact the successful implementation of new formulations. The Staff Scientist, Formulation will have expertise in pharmaceutics, oral solid dosage, and drug manufacturing while mentoring others.

What you will do:

Collaborate on cross-functional teams to solve formulation and process challenges with experimental data and statistical analysis.Review and present experimental results to internal and external customers.Work with network subject matter experts and internal research teams to solve formulation issues. Share findings to continuously improve team performance and customer happiness.Assist with moving formulations and processes from R&D lab to cGMP clinical manufacturing and between Bend site and other network locations.Maintain technical skills by keeping up with industry through trade groups, conferences, literature review, etc. and occasionally present at industry conferences and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.Mentor junior scientists in the science of drug development, solid oral formulations, and process technologies.

How you will get here:

Education

PhD or equivalent experience in pharmaceutics, chemical engineering, or related scientific field is preferred; at a minimum, Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a similar field of study is required.

Experience12+ years working in pharmaceutical development/manufacturing with significant focus on solid oral dosage forms. With a related Master's degree or equivalent experience, 9 years required; with a related PhD or equivalent experience, 7 years required.Proven track record of effectively leading multiple projects simultaneouslyExpert level proficiency in crafting experiments and scaling up processes from lab to pilot scale
